American Medical Massage Network
Criteria for Membership / Affiliation:
1. AMMN Membership / Affiliation is open to qualified Massage Therapists who are:
i. Licensed as Massage Therapists in their state.
ii. Partners, Associates or Employees who are also Licensed Massage Therapists, must apply for their own affiliation / membership.
iii. Corporate or Massage Therapists working at a Hospital, Clinic, Hospice or other settings, including Spa or Franchised operations must register as ‘individual members.
iv. Student Members – registered in a Massage Therapy School must complete their own application. There is no fee to join.
v. Associate Business Membership / Affiliation, in support of the Massage Community, is available to non-massage therapists’ e.g. Institutions, Organizations such as Hospitals, Clinics, Spas, Franchises, Networks, Suppliers or Providers of Health-Related Goods & Services. The Annual Membership Fee is $500.00. Advertising is available to Associate Business Members in the AMMN website. They can also be listed in the ‘Directory of Providers’ of any or all State Pages at an additional cost.
2. Members must have ‘Professional Liability Insurance’ through AMTA, ABMP or other organizations
and provide copy of an endorsement showing AMMN as co-insured (There is no cost to you for asking for this endorsement, but it is an added protection & indemnification for AMMN, physicians & healthcare professionals referring their patients to you, as well as for other AMMN members/affiliates, in the highly unlikely event of a malpractice lawsuit against you.
3. Members who are operating independently must provide a copy of ‘Business Registration’ or ‘Business License’ from the city or state where they are operating.
4. Independent Businesses are required to have a ‘General Liability Insurance’ and should provide an endorsement to AMMN, showing it to be a co-insured. (There is no cost to you for asking for this endorsement).
Requirements for Membership: (For your convenience, all 3-forms indicated hereunder allow you to download to your computer, complete and send them to AMMN online).
1. A completed Affiliation / Membership Application Form. (Download: Application for Membership)
2. Copies of all academic training and a detailed list, in chronological order, of massage courses completed, including CME. CE or other seminars/workshops, etc. attended, for ‘Credential Evaluation’ as well as your resume.
3. Completed ‘Self-Evaluation for Specialization’, as a Level-1, Level-2 or Level-3 in Medical Massage. (Please follow our criteria for the Level of Specialization appended below)
4. Copy of your license as a Massage Therapist.
5. Copy of any other professional license you may have.
6. Copy of the ‘Professional Liability Insurance’.
7. Copy of ‘Business Registration’ or ‘Business License’ from the city or state where you are operating.
8. Copy of your General Liability Insurance
9. If you are employed, please attach a copy of employer’s business license, malpractice insurance (indicating that you are also covered) and General Liability Insurance Policy.
10. A recent color photo (2×2)
11. Completed ‘Profile Page’ for our database (Download: Profile Form for Medical Massage Therapist)
12. Your Level of Specialization can be reviewed & possibly upgraded every six month, upon your written request, with additional CMEs, completion of courses, training, research, testimonial and recommendations from your clients, healthcare providers, Global Health Medical Missions, etc. (Download: Self Evaluation for Specialization Form)
Levels of Specialization:
Level-I:
- State Licensed for 10 or more years
- Medical Training as MD/DO/DC/ND/RN/NP/PA/PhD
- Equivalent training & experience in Massage Therapy
- Additional Training in healthcare, CME or CE in Medical Massage from AMMN, AMTA, ABMP or other organizations.
- Research in medical massage
- Graduate of Equivalent AMMN training courses.
Level-II:
- State Licensed for 5 or more years
- Bachelors or Master’s Degree.
Equivalent training & experience in Massage Therapy - Additional Training in healthcare, CME or CE in Medical Massage from AMMN, AMTA, ABMP or other organizations.
- Graduate of Equivalent AMMN training courses.
Level-III:
- State Licensed for 1 or more years
- Associate Degree or High School
- Equivalent training & experience
- Additional Training in healthcare, CME or CE in Medical Massage from AMMN, AMTA, ABMP or other organizations.
- Graduate of Equivalent AMMN training courses.

We are affiliated with the Multicultural Council of America, a 501(c) (3) organization, and together with many other non-profit organizations, our teams of volunteer healthcare professionals depart for Global Health medical missions almost every month.
- Teaching Opportunity: AMMN is a part of The American Academy of International Education, licensed as a 2-Year Post-Secondary Vocational Institution. Besides offering a ‘Instructor Program for Massage’, we also offer hundreds of Seminars/Workshops on Health Conditions & Diseases to the Consumers, Massage Therapists & other health professionals. - Internship/Externship/Practical Training: To enhance your skills & knowledge, we encourage AMMN affiliates / members to participate in our co-operative programs with health professionals, shadowing them in their offices, clinics or hospitals.
- Personal Medical Record Journal: We encourage patients to write down all their health events from birth-on, by completing our proprietary & exclusive ‘Personal Medical Record Journal’. It is available Electronically for their smart phones or computers, as well as in print form.
- Empower your clients to maintain their confidential & correct medical history as well as that of their parents, grand-parents, siblings, etc. Besides health history & treatments, it allows them to enter Massage Therapy, Physical Therapy, Acupuncture and any OTC/Vitamin they take in pursuit of health.
