3RD Party Payers:

Third-party payers may be federal (Medicare – age-based), Tricare or Veterans Administration, state (Medicaid -income-based), Workers’ Compensations Programs, or local government programs, private health insurance companies, or others, such as self-insured corporations, and even individuals paying on behalf of the patient.

1. For private patients, the Massage Therapists will be able to collect directly from the patient, or if they prefer, they could encourage them to use AMMN website for making the appointment & payment

2. As CMS (Center of Medicare & Medicaid Services) hasn’t announced payment for Massage Therapy, but it is expected soon. AMMN will keep you informed of the progress.

3. Medicaid is a state program. Certain states do pay for Massage. Please check with AMMN about your state or contact the Medicaid office in your state about billing.

4. AMMN is negotiating with several insurance companies about billing. Meanwhile, we encourage the clients to also contact their insurance companies about payment for their massage. However, we collect insurance info from the clients to try to bill them, and if we get paid, their payment can be adjusted.

AMMN

American Medical Massage Network (AMMN) is a national network of licensed Massage Therapists, uniquely trained, qualified and highly experienced in one or more medical specialty.

With evidence-based research by VA, NIH and many other organizations about the efficacy of Massage, many health insurance companies have already approved Massage Therapy for various health conditions, including Pain Management, Arthritis, Cardiovascular, OB/GYN, Parkinson’s Dx., Pediatrics, PTSD, Fibromyalgia, Headache/Migraine, etc.

The American Medical Massage Network (AMMN), Academy of Integrative Pain Management (AIPM), US Pain Foundation, and many others have submitted their recommendation to CMS to include qualified Massage Therapists and it is highly likely that in 2020, CMS will approve payment for Medical Massage to Medicare and Medicaid clients.

The network is designed & established to work closely with Physicians & other healthcare providers, to help the patient

Massage Therapists are licensed as ‘Health Care Providers’ in over 20 states.
